Welcome to CarndonaghHeritage.com! This website aims to document the history of Carndonagh, Co. Donegal, through a collection of images, maps, first-hand accounts and other historical sources.

The site is curated by local historian Maura Harkin who has been gathering historical documents from members of the community for many years now. CarndonaghHeritage.com could not exist without the generosity of people from the town and surrounding areas who have shared family photos, postcards, newspaper articles, records, personal accounts and other documents with Maura.

The site was launched at the 2018 edition of the Colgan Heritage Weekend in the Colgan Hall. While the website is still in its infancy, with only a few galleries and posts available to view, it is planned that the site will develop to include a wide range of topics covering life in and around Carndonagh.

If you have any information, documents or comments you would like to share on Carndonagh and surrounding areas, feel free to get in touch with us directly using the contact form on the Contact Us page, or add a comment at the bottom of any post to join in the discussion.

Make sure you add your own email address in the ‘subscribe’ box at the bottom of the page so you won’t miss any new posts on the site.

The project has gratefully received funding from the Heritage Council, which supports heritage projects around the country.
