The Carndonagh Heritage project aims to provide a history of Carndonagh using images, documents and maps collected and curated by local historian and archivist, and self-confessed hoarder, Maura Harkin.

This collection would not have been possible without the generosity of many individuals from the local community.  The documents in the collection come from a wide variety of sources, but the primary sources of information have been the people of Carndonagh. Having shared these images in many exhibitions and displays over the years, Maura decided it was time to find a more permanent way to allow the people of Carndonagh and historians everywhere to have access to these priceless images.

The site is expected to develop over the coming years with many more aspects of Carndonagh history to cover, such as sport, religion, townlands, and much more.

Visitors to are invited to participate in the project by sharing any information or stories they have about any images or other documents here. You can share your stories either by leaving a comment in a comment box at the bottom of any post, or by filling in the contact form on the Contact us page.
